Hervey Bay Dance School was formed in 2000 and has become the regions premier education facility and regional Queensland's biggest dance program provider committed to a quality dance and performing arts education of all students. Our approach to learning is POSITIVE! We encourage all students to strive to improve themselves as individuals while they also learn to work with fellow dancers in the class and performance setting.

 

In 2014 Hervey Bay Dance School launched the region's first Certificate Program and by 2016 had over 13 students enrolled in Certificate II & III in Dance achieving very high marks.

 

In 2016 HBDS announced the launch of Regional Queensland's first Performing Arts High School under the name of Hervey Bay Performing Arts College giving students the option of combining schooling and full-time dance.

 

In late 2016 HBDS took over Dance Zone Hervey Bay which merged into HBDS bringing you a wide range of additional classes such as cheer & AASCF Troupes including a second venue used as studio 3 & 4 in 2017.

Hervey Bay Dance School has also formed partnerships with Village Nation (Sydney) who provide HBDS students will summer school scholarships and full-time course trial scholarships & RAW Dance Company (Brisbane) who has provides students with courses and workshops with their international dancers.

 

We believe that every student in our studio community is important & unique and should be nurtured and guided to reach their full potential in dance & performance. We have a high expectation of students that they come to class ready to learn & partake in classes to their full ability with passion, respect & willingness to take responsibility for their own learning.

Watch as your little one discovers the world of dance through our fun and structured program and blossom before your eyes.

 

Our program for 3-4 year olds will let them explore many exciting styles such as Ballet & Jazz. Our Petite Dancers Program is perfect for children who love to dance and move. 

 

Dance helps students develop motor skills, social skills, rhythm, timing and confidence.

Aged 5-7

Watch your little superstar love their dance classes as they build confidence, learn new moves, make friends and have so much fun! We have classes for ages 5-7 in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary & Ballet. We know your little dancer will be leaving class filled with so much excitement and won't be able to wait till their next lesson.

Troupe & Performance Teams

Our General Class Stream is for Junior & Seniors students ages ranging from 5 years to Opens. This stream offers all styles in a fun and supportive environment and lets students develop their skills and technique. All students will perform in the end of year production.

 

Our recreational class have a number of age groups available, Junior (aged 8-12),Senior (aged 13+).

 

Classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Stretch and Technique, Tumbling, Break Dance, Drama, Cheer & Stunts.

Performance Team Program

ACHIEVE YOUR BEST ON A REGIONAL & NATIONAL STAGE

The PERFORMANCE TEAM PROGRAM at Hervey Bay Dance School is for dedicated dancers that want to excel their ability both on and off the stage. The PERFORMANCE TEAM PROGRAM gives students the ability to participate in a wide range of local & national competitions, gain industry contacts and the ability to work with leading choreographers with students previously working with teachers from Australia and USA.



PERFORMANCE TEAM PROGRAM students also opportunity to represent the region at the Australia Dance Festival held in Sydney. The PERFORMANCE TEAM PROGRAM focuses on improving students confidence, stage presence, technical ability and determination to succeed whilst making life long friendships through dance.

 

The PERFORMANCE TEAM PROGRAM Students participate in a variety of classes to assist them achieve their technical and performance goals as well as Stretch, Strength & Conditioning classes + routine classes for each age group.

Our CHEER COMPETITION TEAMS at Hervey Bay Dance School are for dedicated athletes that want to enhance their training and perform on the Biggest All Star Cheerleading stages. All athletes will compete and become members of the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation competiting in 2-3 championships each year. 

Our CHEER COMPETITION TEAMS focus on athletes tumbling ability, stunts, focus, commitments and teamwork all while making life long friends and having fun. 

HERVEY BAY MEGA CREW
THE BIGGEST HIP HOP COMPS IN AUSTRALIA

The Hervey Bay Mega Crew is the newest addition to the Dance School. The Mega Crew is open to everyone inside and outside the dance school (via audition) who wants to represent the region at the biggest hip hop competitions in Australia. The Mega Crew trains separately to the dance school (times TBA) with experienced teachers from Brisbane who train award winning Crews. The Mega Crew also has seperate fees which are listed in the fee structure below.

(CUA30113) Certificate III In Dance

Hervey Bay Dance School is excited to partner with RAW Dance Company to offer the CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance over 2-years in Hervey Bay.  RAW is a fully accredited, nationally registered training organisation (RTO No.41385) committed to providing a supportive and caring learning environment where students are able to define their own artistic voice and realise their potential.

The CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance is a 2-year course for school aged students. Designed to provide the foundations for young performers aspiring to become professional artists, students completing a Certificate III in Dance will increase their depth of precision technique, develop improvisation and partnering skills, enhance personal presentation and be well versed in various industry theory studies.

HBPAC believes that standard high school is not suitable for every student. We strive to offer students with a unique, balanced and equal approach with their academic studies & performing arts in a safe, caring and nurturing environment.

ABOUT OUR COLLEGE

Hervey Bay Performing Arts College (HBPAC) has been formed over two years to provide students with a unique high school experience for students in years 7-12. HBPAC is for students looking for a different schooling approach and will give students the opportunity to progress in their performing arts training whilst completing their academics studies.   

DAY STRUCTURE

Students normal day consist of 3-4 hours academics followed by 2-3 hours of performing arts classes. Students will receive their work via Cairns School Of Distance Education (CSDE) and will be given their own study space in our dedicated academic area and have full support from our academic support staff & teachers as well as their own teachers from CSDE. During the afternoon students will be taken through a range of different performing arts styles and subjects.
